Nearly 150 students poisoned in Daikundi

NELLI (Pajhwok): At least 146 school students, including girls, have been poisoned in central Daikundi province, an official said on Tuesday.

On Monday, 75 students were poisoned in the Kalo area of Nelli, the province capital, according to local authorities.

Rahmatullah Sirat, the educationinfo-icon director, told Pajhwok Afghan News 63 students of Naswan School, 66 of Jurf and 18 others were poisoned.

He said 21 boys were among those poisoned. The rest were girls, he said, adding the victims were evacuated to hospital.

Abdul Wahid Wahid, acting director of the civil hospital, said several students were discharged after receiving first medical aid.

He informed the reason behind the incident could not be ascertained due to lack of facilities at the hospital.
