KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani says his government remains focused on the reconciliation process, as peace and elections complement each other.

Ghani, chairing a cabinet meeting on Wednesday afternoon at the Presidential Palace, spoke about the September 28 presidential election and stressed its conduct in a fair way.

A statement from his office quoted the president as saying that nothing could impede the national process. He said peace and elections were inter-dependent.

Ghani praised efforts by the Ministry of Hajjinfo-icon and National Procurement Commission for flying Afghan pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.

He urged all government organisations to cooperate with the Hajj process. He specifically tasked the Foreign Ministry to step up the process and create more facilities for pilgrims.

The Ministry of Finance presented the meeting a report on budget utilisation so far during the current solar yearinfo-icon.  A draft report on budget evaluation was also shared with participants.

The cabinet endorsed the draft budget evaluation for six months and praised the ministry’s efforts in this regard.
