District police chief survives car bombing

SHARAN (Pajhwok): A district police chief in southeastern Paktika province on Tuesday survived a suicide car bombing, an official said.

At least five people were injured and a child killed in the attack, deputy police chief Masood Babakarkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The car bombing in the Patni area of Sharan targeted district police chief Abdul Wadood Andar, the official said.

He added Abdul Wadood Andar survived the bombing but three of his bodyguards and two civilians were wounded and a child killed.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
