KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The survey of Central Asia South Asia CASA-1000 project has been completed and the ground work would be started soon from northern provinces, an official said Wednesday.

Mohammad Agha Jabarkhel, coordinator between public and government on CASA-1000, told a gathering that two Central Asian States wanted to export their extra electricity to Pakistaninfo-icon.

He added the project supply lines from Uzbekistan would reach Pakistan after passing through Kunduz, Baghlan, Panjshir, Kapisa, Kabul, Laghman and Nangarhar provinces.

He said Afghanistaninfo-icon would receive $50 million in transit fee and individuals who offered their land for the project would be compensated and there would uplift projects in their areas.

He said the project total electricity would go to Pakistan but there would massive work opportunities for Afghans and some development schemes would be implemented in areas where the project would cross.

Noorullah Amini, Environmentinfo-icon Protection Department Director, said stretching electricity wires would have some negative effects which should be considered.

He said they had evaluated the survey on international standards and there was no major problem in the study.

Earlier, it was decided that Afghanistan would get 300MW electricity but now according to officials Afghanistan would receive $50mn revenue in transit free from the project.
