KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology (MCIT) on Wednesday said the internet price would be decreased by 37 percent within next two weeks throughout the country for homes and offices.

MCIT acting minister Mohammad Fahim Hashimi told a press conference in Kabul that one MB internet price would be decreased from $96 to $60.

He said offering low internet price and high-quality was among the MCIT priorities, saying that the ministry had been trying to reduce the third-generation Internet (3G and 4G) rates in coordination with telecoms companies.

About suspension of telecom services at night in some provinces, the minister said the problem affected both ordinary people and traders.

He said it’s the government responsibility to assure people their safety and all measures would be taken in this regard.

All private telecom companies in Balkh have been suspending their services overnight since the last four days while the local administration has called the move a plot and ordered the companies to close their offices.
