7 civilians killed in Ghazni, Laghman explosions

GHAZNI/METARLAM (Pajhwok): At least seven civilians were killed in separate explosions in southern Ghazni and eastern Laghman province, officials said Sunday.

Ghazni governor’s spokesman, Mohammad Arif Noori, told Pajhwok Afghan News that an explosion was happened in Shidan area of Ghazni city, the provincial capital around 9am today morning.

He said that a rickshaw driver and two other civilians were killed and as many others injured in the incident.

The injured were evacuated to hospital for treatment, he said but provided no information about their healthinfo-icon condition.

An eyewitness, Niamatullah, told Pajhwok that the bomb was placed in a roadside flower pot on Kabulinfo-icon-Kandahar highway.

He said all of the victims of the explosion were civilians.

Dr. Baz Mohammad Himmat, head of Ghazni Civil Hospital, confirmed receiving three dead bodies and three injured people, all civilians.

No groups have so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to another report, four people including three womeninfo-icon were killed in an explosion in a house in Laghman province.

Laghman governor’s spokesman, Asadullah Dawlatzai, told Pajhwok that the incident took place in Shamkat area of Alishang district late on Saturday.

He said the house where the explosion took place belonged to a key Talibaninfo-icon commander named Gul Wali.

He said a man and three women were killed and two others were wounded in the incident.

Sar Malim, a resident of the area said that the house was attacked by airstrike.

However, Dawlatzai said that no airstrikes were conducted in the province during the last one week.

Taliban militants did not comment yet on the regard.
