FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): At least 35 people were killed and 27 others wounded after a passenger vehicle struck a roadside bomb in western Farah province on Wednesday, an official said.

Police spokesman Mohibullah Mohib told Pajhwok Afghan News the deadly explosion took place on the Herat-Kandahar highway at around 6:00am.

The passenger vehicle was heading to Kandahar when it hit struck the roadside bomb in Aab Khurma area, he said, adding 35 people were killed and 27 others wounded.

Mohib said the dead bodies and injured people were evacuated to Herat province. He feared the casualties might increase. Children and womeninfo-icon are among the casualties.

All victims are said to be civilian, mostly women and children. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
