Kabul's Shah Du Shamshira Mosque being rebuilt

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday inaugurated the reconstructioninfo-icon of a mosuqe in the capital Kabul.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said that the inauguration ceremony was attended by daughters of King Amanullah Khan, Princesses Hindia and Najia, a number of scholars and some Kabul residents.

Jawad Paikar, acting urban development minister, said the Shah Du Shamshira Mosqueinfo-icon would be rebuilt following an order from the president.

He said the project, costing 23.63 million afghanis, would take a year to complete.

Ali Farhad Bayat, in charge of historical sites and mosque reconstruction section at the Ministry of Urban Development, provided information about the project.

He spoke about the history of the mosque, pathology, mapping, minarets and other parts of the mosque to be reconstructed.

President Ghani the presence of King Amanullah Khan’s daughters at the ceremony a moment of pride.

He said a number of inns in Kabul would be reconstructed and all historical mosques surveyed.

Accompanied by officials from the Ministries of Urban Development, Hajjinfo-icon and Information and Culture, Ghani inaugurated the reconstruction of the mosque.
