No power in the world can eliminate Afghan nation: Ghani

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani Monday vowed to avenge the killing of innocent people and claimed safe havens of different terrorist groups situated on the other side of the Durand Lineinfo-icon.

The president reiterated no power in the worldinfo-icon could eliminate the Afghan nation. He was addressing a gathering after the inauguration of Darulaman Palace here to mark the 100th Independence anniversary.

Earlier, the president laid a floral wreath at the Minaretinfo-icon of Independence in the Ministry of Defence to pay homage to King Amanullah Khan for retaking the country’s Independence.

Second Vice President Sarwar Danish, Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Justice, cabinet members, high ranking military and civil government officials and Amanullah Khan’s daughter Princess Hindi were present on the occasion.

The president said the purpose behind special arrangements to mark the Independence Day was to send a message to the young generation to feel the historical dignity of the country and be proud of their country and nation.

“Unfortunately, our enemy is so coward that they targeted civilians and killed womeninfo-icon and children in the Sunday night attack in a wedding hall,” the president said.

“The Talibaninfo-icon rejected the bombing and distance themselves from the killing of innocent people but the foundation of such attacks was laid by the Taliban. They targeted mosques, schools and public places multiple times,” he noted.

The president vowed to avenge the killing of innocent people and attacks on them. “We will take this avenge in two ways one to honour and respect our security forces which the duty of every Afghan including me and the second way to eradicated the roots of Daesh if they are in the east or north. We will have no mercy on Daesh and will take decisive actions against them,” he said.

Ghani said in the past years many Taliban leaders had been killed on the other side of the Durand Line and this showed that safe havens of the terrorist existed on the others side of the Durand line.

He called on the people living on the other side of the Durand Line to stand against terrorism and terrorist elements in whatever mechanism it could be done.

The termed the people on the other side of Durand Line as peace loving and humanitarian who remained under oppression and victim of terrorism.

“Our fight is for the purpose of humanity and the world should know that Afghans are not only fighting for their nation but for a humanitarian purpose. No power in the world could eradicate Afghans,” he remarked.
