PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): During a visit to Landi Kotal, the Afghan ambassador to Pakistaninfo-icon was briefed on the security situation at the Torkham border.

Besides receiving the security briefing Shukrullah Atif Mashal on Wednesday inspected various sections and facilities. Later on, he returned to Islamabad.

Accompanied by senior officials, the ambassador arrived at the border in a helicopter from the Ghulam Khan town of Waziristan.

He was accorded a warm welcome by Khyber Rifles Commandant Col. Farrukh Humayun and Wing Commandant Col. Faisal. The Afghan delegation was informed about the current security situation at the border.

Local authorities also briefed the visiting team on the steps taken by the government for the smooth arrival and departure of Afghan citizens.

The envoy also visited offices of National Logistic Cell, immigration and other related sections at the border. He was apprised of Pakistan’s plan to keep the border open round the clock.
