CHARIKARinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Armed robbers stopped a vehicle carrying four police officers and snatched two Kalashnikovs from them in this capital city of central Parwan province last night, an official said on Friday.

The four officers included deputy head of crime branch police for Syedkhel district, deputy head of the district counter-terrorism section and two other officers, said Syedkhel district administrative chief Ahmad Lamar.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News the officers were travelling in a car from Charikar, the provincial capital, to Syedkhel district when armed robbers intercepted their vehicle at about 8pm.

Lamar said the armed robbers snatched the vehicle and two AK-47 rifles and then abandoned the vehicle in Sadullah Pul area. He said the crime branch officer was able to flee when the robbers were busy searching other officers.

He said the robbers released the other three officers after taking their guns. Lamar said the three officers were currently being investigated for surrendering their guns to robbers without resistance.

In addition to armed robbers, Talibaninfo-icon militants also hold sway in Syedkhel district.
