GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Security personnel in some districts of southern Ghazni province have been besieged by the Talibaninfo-icon and officials took no efforts for breaking it.

Local officials in Ghazni strongly rejected the issue of security personnel being besieged by the Taliban.

Security forces in Aab Band and Andar districts had been under the Taliban siege from the past few months and roads leading to these districts had been blocked.

JummaGul, a policeman in the Andar district, told Pajhwok Afghan News they had been besieged from the past 16 months as the main district road remained blocked.

He said they contacted officials multiple times but no one reached to their help.

Another policeman, who wished to go unnamed, said the Taliban attacked them every night and they just defend themselves.

The Taliban launched a coordinated attack on Andar district last year, after which the Ghazni-Paktika and Andar district road closed for traffic.

Alam Khan, a security personnel from Aab Band district told Pajhwok Afghan News that they had been under the Taliban siege from the past few months.

“Two times I faced with a land, mine my friends lost their lives while I was safe.”

He said they often faced with the Taliban attack and there was no one for their help.

Governor WahidullahKalimzai said no security personnel were under the Taliban siege in any district.

He acknowledged deteriorated security situation in district and attacks often happening on security persons but no security personnel were under siege.

He said more security forces would be deployed in the vulnerable districts.
