US, Taliban reject discussions on interim government during talks

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): US Special Representative for Afghan Reconciliation Process Zalmay Khalilzad and the Talibaninfo-icon Qatar Office Spokesperson Suhail Shaheen have rejected talks over interim government during the 9th round of US, Taliban negotiations.

Khalilzad on his twitter handler wrote: “As the Taliban spokesperson stated earlier, we have had no discussion about an interim government. Governance decisions are for Afghans to make in intra-Afghan negotiations.”

Shaheen on his twitter also rejected discussion on interim government setup during the talks. He said: “Reports regarding interim government in the media are not true and far from reality.”

Earlier, some media outlets have disseminated reports regarding the discussion of interim government between US and the Taliban in ongoing talks.
