Kunduz raid: 15 freed from Taliban prison

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Fifteen individuals have been rescued from a Talibaninfo-icon-run prison as a result of a security raid in northern Kunduz province.

Afghan National Army (ANA) commandos and the National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) personnel stormed the Taliban prison in the Imaminfo-icon Sahib district of the province on Sunday night.

Esmatullah Muradi, spokesman for the governor, told reporters 15 people including civilians and security personnel were freed during the overnight raid.

Six militants were also killed in the operation, he said, adding the Taliban prison and a weapon cache were also destroyed by the security forces.
