KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): A local singer in southeastern Khost province says he is ready to quit singing if peace comes.

Rahim Khan Faryadi, 33, is one of local singers who has been singing songs in wedding parties, picnics and concerts for the past 20 years.

In an exclusive chat with Pajhwok Afghan News, Faryadi said he had always tried to spread the message of peace and brotherhood to his countrymen through his art.

“An artist becomes famous like a president because when a singer makes a peace song and it is shown on TV screen, it impresses people,” he remarked.

He said he was aware about the peace talks between Talibaninfo-icon and US representatives in Qatari capital Doha and always followed the developments.

Referring music, he said he knew the Taliban did not like music and he was ready to quit his profession if peace arrived.

“Our great ambition is stability in the country because the people are tired of conflict, we have rendered huge sacrifices in this conflict, I have lost three brothers and a leg to this war,” he informed.

Faryadi also expressed concern over the current situation of local music.
