KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Saudi Arabia has compensated Afghan dead and injured pilgrims of crane incident in the holy mosqueinfo-icon in Meccainfo-icon, a statement from Afghan Embassy in Saudi Arabia said on Friday.

Hundreds of pilgrims, including Afghans, were killed and injured in a crane fall incident in the holy mosque back in 2015.

Saudi Arabia compensated the Afghan injured and dead pilgrims after efforts in this regard were made by the Afghan embassy with the foreign ministry of Saudi Arabia, the statement said.

It added Afghan Ambassador in Riyadh met Dr. Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman, head of the repatriates, in the foreign ministry of Saudi Arabia and received 23 verified cheques.

Each martyred will receive one million Riyal while every injured will receive 500,000 Riyal in compensation.
