CHARIKARinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC)v on Tuesday fined the educationinfo-icon director of central Parwan province and head of Charikar Education Office 15,000 afghanis each for closing a voter registration centre.

The voter registration process has already ended and currently the election campaign is underway.

Wahidullah Wahidi, IECC secretary for Parwan, said Education Director Abdul Zahoor Hakeem and Syed Hashim, head of Charikar Education Office, had been fined over keeping a voter registration centre closed.

The decision to punish the two officials was taken in line with the law by the provincial and central IECC offices, he added.

Wahidi added the commission would send the last notice to the accused individuals to pay their fines, otherwise they would be referred to the judiciary.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, Kabulinfo-icon University Head Hameedullah Farooqi and Former Vice President Mohammad Karim Khalilil had been fined 10,000 each by the IECC over violation of rules and participating in election rallies.
