PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A comprehensive and organised security plan has been chalked out for Election Day security in central Logar province to enable people to participate in the democratic exercise fearlessly, an official said Tuesday.

Police spokesman Shapur Ahmadzai told Pajhwok Afghan News that security forces in Logar had strengthened and they could make security arrangements on Election Day.

“Our Election Day security plan is final and I am sure that the voting process will take place peacefully.”

Haji Naeem Khan, a resident of Abazak locality in Mohammad Agha district, said people in their area had attached stickers to their Tazkeras and they would participate in this month’s election.

Jameela, a resident of Pul-i-Alam, said all of their family members had decided to take part in the elections.

“Our village is Porak which is an insecure area and if security arrangements are not made, people will not be able to take part in elections,” he said.

Iran Gul Raghand, head of the provincial Independent Election Commission (IECinfo-icon), said security officials had assured that they would to provide security for 32 polling stations in the province.

“Security plan has been approved and we are assured that full security during elections,” he said.

Raghand added the commission would strive to ensure free and fair elections in the province.

In Logar, 110,000 people have registered as voters. In 2014, the number of polling stations was 83, which has been reduced to 32.
