KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): A delegation from Talibaninfo-icon’s Qatar office has met Iranian authorities in Tehran, the rebel group’s spokesman said on Tuesday.

Suhail Shaheen tweeted a four-member delegation led by the deputy head of Taliban’s political office, Abdul Salam Hanafi, travelled to Iran.

He said the Taliban team met high-ranking officials of the Iranian foreign ministry in Tehran.

Shaheen added the two sides discussed recent developments in the Afghan peace process, security of Iranian-funded projects in the war-hit country and ways of sustained stability.

The Taliban negotiators appreciated the positive role of all countries, especially neighbours, in the peace process, the spokesman continued.

Another Taliban delegation led by Abbas Stanikzai visited Moscow a few days back and explained the group’s position on peace talks during a meeting with Russian special envoy Zamir Kabulov.

The Russian side supported the group’s stand on the withdrawal of all foreign troops from Afghanistaninfo-icon.

A delegation of the militant reportedly travelled to China but the Taliban have not yet commented on the trip.
