PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Officials in northern Baghlan province on Wednesday said the power transmission line from Uzbekistan to Kabulinfo-icon and other provinces would be repaired today.

Khanzada Mazlumyar, chief of Baghlan-i-Markazi district, told Pajhwok Afghan News a number of tribal elders had talked to Talibaninfo-icon on the electricity supply issue.

He said the Taliban had allowed repairs of the power line and electricity supply to Kabul and other parts of the country was expected to resume later in the day.

Arbab Farmarz, a tribal elder from the district, confirmed talks with the Taliban on repairs of the power pylons that were blown up earlier in the week.

“I was unwell and could not join the elders for negotiations with the fighters. But others met the Taliban and got permission for fixing the power pylons,”

A worker of the Afghanistaninfo-icon Breshna Shirkat, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said a technical team had reached the spot from Kabul.

He explained repairing the pylons would take time but the supply line would be reconnected temporarily.

In a statement, the power utility confirmed technical teams had been allowed to fix the damage in some parts of Kunduz and Ghorinfo-icon.

The statement added the supply of 150MW of electricity would restart by the evening.
