Mualvi Rahmatullah Andar, another cleric talking at the meeting, said that a board of ulema should be created for solving problems scholars faced in official documents, assessing seminaries and building a single curriculum for madaris.

He also suggested a committee of ulemas should be created for reducing mistrust among ulema and removing the distance between clerics and Presidential Palace, protection of Ulema and following their cases and other issues related to them.

President Ghani, after hearing from the clerics, said that, “Ulema have a special place, respect and role in our societyinfo-icon, their problems would be addressed definitely.”

He said the distance between the Presidential Palace and ulemas shortened during the last five years and efforts were underway to do away with the gap.

Ghani called the suggestion of creating a Ulema board and committee as rational demands and assured that steps would be taken in this regard.

He said besides reconstructioninfo-icon of historic mosques, hundreds of new mosques were built and 30 million afghanis allocated for each district for building worship places there.

In addition to Ulema’s protection, madaris in future should also be organized based on the viewpoint of clerics, he concluded.
