KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): India has called for the involvement of all stakeholders, including the Afghan government, in the peace process.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Externalinfo-icon Affairs told a weekly media briefing in New Delhi: “All processes should respect the constitutional legacy and political mandate in Afghanistaninfo-icon.”

Raveesh Kumar issued the call as a Talibaninfo-icon delegation, led by Abdul Ghani Baradar, met Pakistani officials in Islamabad.

On Thursday, Pakistaninfo-icon Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and the delegates from Taliban’s political office in Doha stressed the resumption of peace talks.

For its part, the Indian government seeks the inclusion of all stakeholders, including the Afghan government, in the peace process.

India was closely monitoring the situation, Kumar was quoted as saying by PTI. All sections of the Afghan government should be part of the peace bid, he added.

A peace settlement must not leave any ungoverned spaces where terrorists and their proxies could operate, the spokesman continued.

“It should have the full consent of the Afghan people and the government of that country,” Kumar maintained.
