Iranian consulate’s wall in Herat acquisitioned

Oct 10, 2019 - 16:46

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The Afghan government has acquisitioned 1,600 square metres land of the Iranian Consulate General in Herat City, the capital of western Herat province, an official said on Thursday.

Herat Governor’s Spokesman Jilani Farhad said the government approved the acquisition of 1,600 square meter land of the Iranian Consulate during a Cabinet meeting headed by President Ashraf Ghani.

The meeting approved recommendation of the land acquisition in Herat City in exchange for 2,248 square metres land in Darul Aman and 36,900 square metre land in Shahr-i-Naw area of Kabulinfo-icon City.

Five years back, the wall of the main Herat City Road was pushed back but the wall of the Iranian Consulate General remained on its position because of the non-acquisition of land.

Government and local residents in Herat had asked the Iranian consulate that their wall should be pushed back as soon as possible.

Aziz Ahmad, a resident of Herat city, said: “Unfortunately the Iranian consulate general’s wall is not moved back despite the completion of the acquisition process. We hope this wall will be removed soon.”
