Taliban take hostage 6 peace activists in Logar

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Talibaninfo-icon took six members of the People’s Peace Movement (PPM) hostage in central Logar province on Saturday morning.

A member of PPM, who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants took away six of his colleagues from the Mohajirin township in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital.

He identified the hostages as Haji Mohammad Nekzada, Zmarai Zaland, Abdul Hamid Khajari, Abdul Malik Maliki, Haji Sahib and Maulviinfo-icon Mazlomyar.

Didar Lawang, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok a number of PPM members had gone missing in the provincial capital early in the morning.

He said the PPM members had held a meeting with residents of the Khoshu district a day earlier. The peace activists went missing on the way to the provincial capital today, he added.

The Taliban had possibly kidnapped the PPM members, he believed.

On the other hand, the Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said they were going to investigate the issue and would share the outcome with Pajhwok later on.
