GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Local officials on Tuesday said the Attorney Office’s executive head for southern Ghazni province has been gunned down by unidentified assailants.

Governor’s spokesman Mohammad Arif Noori told Pajhwok Afghan News that Mujtaba Hanafi, the executive head, was killed by unknown armed men in Ghazni City, the provincial capital, on Monday night.

“Hanafi was on his way home when he was attacked,” he added.

No one has been arrested in connection with the murder so far.

Mohammad Kazim, a relative of the prosecutor, said that Mujtaba was killed with a silencer-fitted pistol by two motorcyclists.

He said the prosecutor had no any personal enmity with anyone.

According to another report, Talibaninfo-icon militants killed a tribal elder in Jagahto district of Ghazni.

Mohammad Arif Noori said Taliban killed Jaafari, a former jihadiinfo-icon figure and tribal elder, in Ahmada village of the district on Monday.

“Jaafari had no government job, he said.

The Taliban did not comment on the incidents.

Targeted killings have once again increased in Ghazni in recent past.
