KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Work on three development projects worth 86 million afghanis has kicked off in southeastern Khost province, an official said on Wednesday.

The projects included construction of a vocational training centre, a school for refugees from Pakistaninfo-icon’s Waziristan district and building for the Refugees Department in Khost City.

Governor Mohammad Halim Fidai said funds for the projects were being provided by UNHCR and will be completed in one and a half months.

According to Fidai, the construction of vocational training centre where 20 different skills would be offered could help reduce poverty and generate work opportunities.

UNHCR Representative Jannat Gul Totakhel said the UN agency was striving to help needy families in time but now the Afghan government had taken this responsibility.

He added now as the government had taken responsibility for this assignment, there was need for capacity building of human resources in government institutions.
