Revenue to reach 200b afs until year’s end: MoF

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Sunday said 11 billion afghanis more revenue was collected this year compared to last year.

Director for Customs and Revenue Department Walid Tamim told reporters here that 165 billion afghanis revenue was collected during the first ten months of the ongoing fiscal year, showing 11 billion afs increase.

He claimed the revenue would jumped to 200 billion afghanis until the end the year.

Tamim said since 2015 revenue continued to surge every year and total revenue collections always surpassed the given targets.

He said a special code has been introduced for prices of food items which will never be sold at different rates.

He said scanners and cameras will be installed at customs departments in order to eradicate corruption.

General Revenue Director Amenai Ahmadi said a new system for revenue collection has been introduced in 33 provinces through which revenue will be collected and received.

She said currently the system was being applied in Herat, Nangarhar, Balkh, Kandahar and Kunduz provinces and all companies will be able to use the new system till the end of ongoing year.

She said around 5,000 companies have obtained licenses since 2002 which are not functional currentl.

Ahmadi said for the first time a digital system has been introduced for tax exempted revenue through which 50 employees of the Public Healthinfo-icon Ministry will collect patient fees from Afghanistaninfo-icon’s hospitals.

General Director of Customs Department Mohammad Omar Momand said 668 million afghanis budget was offered to their department in current fiscal year and out of which 73 percent has been spent.

He added after multiple efforts, trade routes to Pakistaninfo-icon were opened round the clock and efforts were on to open trade linkages with Iran and Tajikistan round the clock as well.
