KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Independent Election Commission (IECinfo-icon) commissioner Maulana Abdullah on Saturday admitted people should be explained the delay in announcing the presidential election results.

Addressing a press conference here, Abdullah urged the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) to avoid interference in the commission’s affairs.

He said people should be informed about the postponement of the election results because it was the right of each countryman.

Abdullah called on UNAMA not to interfere in IEC’s affairs and said UNAMA should offer documents in support of its complaint against him.

A week back, UNAMA filed a complaint against what it called ‘inappropriate behavior’ of IEC commissioner Abdullah with an employee and demanded legal action against him.

A letter from UNAMA received by Pajhwok Afghan News says UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistaninfo-icon Tadamachi Yamamato filed a complaint against IEC commissioner Abdullah.

The purpose of the letter was to formally express the UN concern over the behavior of Abdullah at a recent commission meeting on the evening of

But at today’s conference, Maulana urged UNAMA to offer supporting documents about the issue to IEC, the Presidential Palace and Attorney Office.
