TIRIKONT (Pajhwok): A number of widowed womeninfo-icon in central Uruzgan province on Saturday called for an end to the ongoing conflict in the country and said ‘peace and stability’ was their only big wish.

Dozens of widows, who had assembled to receive assistance in Tirinkot, the provincial capital, urged on all warning sides to stop the war and declare a ceasefire.

Sabar Gula, a resident of Chora district and a victim of the war, told Pajhwok Afghan News she left her home three years ago and had since been living in Tirinkot City, the provincial capital.

She lost her three police sons and now she takes care of her sons’ wives and their orphaned children.

Another widowed woman, who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok they were fed up with the war and said ‘stability and peace’ was their big wish. She also called on the warring parties to end to the conflict as soon as possible.

A number of other widows held similar views and urged the warning sides to announce ceasefire across the country.

Faqeer Mohammad Storai, the Dawat and Ittifaq association head, told Pajhwok that 60 sewing machines were distributed to widowed and needy women.

He said they assisted such displaced families to meet their needs through sewing cloths.
