KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The wife of an Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier in northern Kunduz province says her husband whose vehicle plunged into Takhar River in northern Takhar province two weeks ago remains missing.

Roya, 35, a resident of Rustaqabad area of Kunduz province, told Pajhwok Afghan News that her husband, Niamatullah, was driver with the Logistics Department of the 217th Pamir Military Corps.

She said: “My husband was supplying materials to Dorqad district of Takhar province when his vehicle plunged into the river and he drowned along with his colleagues --- 15 days had passed since the incident but no action was taken to fish out the bodies.”

Roya said she had frequently visited the Pamir Military Crops along with her four children but the military commander got her out of his office.

According to Roya, her husband served for 14 years in ANA ranks. She warned she would join the Talibaninfo-icon along with her four children if her husband’s body was not found.

Hadi Jamal, deputy spokesman for the military corps, said they were striving to find the body of Roya’s husband.
