PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has increased vegetable and fruit imports from neighbouring Afghanistaninfo-icon.

Daily imports have been jacked up from 12 vehicles a day to 100 to ensure the availability of the items in the local market at affordable rates.

Chief Minister Mahmood Khan was informed about the import increase at a meeting on price control mechanisms, a government statement said.

Mahmood said the number of vehicles bringing fruits and vegetables to North Waziristan had been increased to rein in prices.

Potato, spinach, cabbage, onion, peas, radish, bitter gourd, grapes, apples and pomegranate from Afghanistan will also be transported to other districts of the province.
