Scores of Daesh rebels surrender in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Scores of Islamic State (IS) fighters have surrendered to intelligence agents in eastern Nangarhar province.

Governor Shah Mohammad Miakhel said 180 members of Daesh surrendered to National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) operatives on Thursday.

The militants, who operated in Achin district, also turned over 94 rounds of AK-47 and heavy machine guns to the NDS personnel, the governor told journalists here.

In the wake of a crackdown that began in Achin in early November, more than 1,000 Daesh rebels and their family members have surrendered to the security forces.
