PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Twenty-six suspected Afghan citizens have fled to their homeland from Pakistaninfo-icon’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police say.

The men had been put on the Fourth Schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), which imposes restrictions on the individuals involved in suspicious activities.

The escape of the Afghan citizens was disclosed after the KP Home Department sought details of fourth schedulers from provincial police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

According to The Express Tribune, police will now decide whether or not to keep names of the Afghans on the Fourth Schedule.

An unnamed police officer was quoted as saying: “They were also not barred from traveling abroad … and therefore they easily managed to return to their country.”
