Herat rally denounces neighbours' intervention in Afghanistan

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Tens of residents and civil societyinfo-icon activists in western Herat province have rallied against the interference of neighbouring countries in the internal affairs of Afghanistaninfo-icon and expressed their concerns.

They claimed Iran and Pakistaninfo-icon directly supported anti-government forces and the two countries had been involved in the destabilisation of Afghanistan.

Mohammad Ismael, one of the rally participants, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Not only to the neighbouring countries, but to all countries I want to declare that Afghanistan will never be the ground of their intelligence warfare.”

Ghulam Hussain, another participant of the rally, said: “We have gathered here to register our complaint to the neighbouring countries regarding their interferences. It is enough; we are tired of your interventions.”

Mujib Rahman Usmani, a religious scholar, said: “We suffer the most from our neighbours. We the religious scholars of this land should spread awareness among people and encourage them to stand against the enemy.”

Civil society activists also complained against the interference of neighbouring countries in the internal affairs of Afghanistan and asked them to cooperate in peace process instead of supporting the conflict.

Feroz Ahmadi, a civil society activist strongly criticised the interference of nighbouring countries in the internal matters of Afghanistan and added: “We ask the neighbouring counties to stop their interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan.”

Iran’s diplomatic mission in Herat City did not comment about the rally, but Tehran repeatedly rejected interfering in the domestic matters of Afghanistan.
