KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The youth from 22 provinces attended a gathering in capital Kabul on Thursday and urged further efforts at achieving sustainable peace in the war-torn country.

The gathering was jointly organized by the State Ministry for Peace Affairs and Rana Private University.

Abdul Khaliq Bala Karzai, deputy minister for peace affairs, told the gathering, that they had invited youths to collect their opinions on the peace process.

He said the youths’ views were important as mostly they were sacrificed in the ongoing conflict.

He said, “Peace is the entire nation’s wish. War only brings destruction. The Afghans will not accept a peace deal in which one party is reconciled and the other pushed to the war.”

Sayed Mustafa Sayeedi, Rana University acting chairman, expressed similar views in this regard.

Aisha Khurram, an Afghan youth representative at UN, told the gathering that the youth filled ranks of both security forces and Talibaninfo-icon and it were the youths who lost their lives.

She said mostly youths were killed in airstrikes and nighttime operations, thus it was essential to have their say in the peace process.
