Afghan, Tajik environment journalist share experiences

 KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Environmentinfo-icon protection journalists from Afghanistaninfo-icon and Tajikistan shared their experiences during a three-day workshop in Dushanbe.

The workshop was launched on January 16 in Dushanbe and was attended by five Afghan and two Tajik journalists.

The program was initiated by Mediothek organization and financed by the Liaison Office (TLO) and hosted by Tajikistan Millat Newspaper.

Hamidullah Zazai, in charge of Mediothek, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the aim of the program was to exchange views and experiences of journalists and finding solutions to problems related to the environment.

He called media’s role in spreading awareness about environment protection as important and said environment journalists needed more cooperation for sharing their experiences and ideas.

Adalat, director of Tajikistan Millat Newspaper, shared information about environmental challenges in her country, programs for fighting environment problems and media’s role in spreading awareness. She said such programs were effective.

Shahdat Sahibzada, an environment journalist in Tajikistan, said that building relations between journalists of the two countries was important and such programs should be held in future too.

Abdul Basit Karokhel, a Pajhwok Afghan News journalist, Farzana Niamat, a journalist from Bakhtar News Agency, Mustafa Shahriar, a journalist from Giti Sabz Weekly, Omaid Asak, a journalist of Nananai Afghanistan Weekly and Sonia Qaderi a journalist of Pishgo media outlet attended the workshop from Afghanistan.

The Afghan journalists called the workshop as valuable and said despite its short period, the program helped them was attain enough experiences from participants.
