Uruzgan leads in revenue collection this year

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): The Revenue Department of central Uruzgan province on Tuesday announced reaching the Ministry of Finance’s target and gaining first position nation-wide in collecting revenue.

Rahimullah Hiwadmal, the revenue department director, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the revenue they collected exceeded the MoI target by more than 19 percent.

He said the MoF had set them above 80 million afghanis target for this financial year but they collected 96 million afghanis or19 percent more of the target. He said the province stood first in collecting revenue across the country.

Javed Khplwak, a civil societyinfo-icon activist, told Pajhwok they paid taxes timely but did not receive services in return. He urged the authorities concerned to provide proper services to people against taxes.

Governor Asadullah Sayeed was happy over receiving first position in terms of collecting revenue in the country.

He said timely payment of taxes by people, traders and companies had positive impact on the province’s revenue percentage.
