U-19 WC: Afghanistan beat UAE by 160 runs

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): With an impressive performance both with the ball and bat, Afghanistaninfo-icon on Wednesday beat the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 160 runs in the Under-19 Worldinfo-icon Cup group match played at Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat on a wicket that seemed suitable for batting and posting a good total to challenge the opposition.

Ibrahim’s 121 balls 87 and Rahmatullah’s 82 balls 81 provided a good platform to Afghan batting line to post a decent total of 265 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

In response to Afghanistan’s massive total on the board the UAE batting crumbled in the beginning. At one stage the UAE was 76 for the loss of six wickets. The UAE tailenders were able to push the score till 105 when they got all out.

Shafiq Ghafari and Noor Ahmad bowled very well and did not let the opposition batsmen to score free runs and restricted them in the circle.

Ghafari grabbed five wickets in his eight overs conceding only 23 runs, while Noor Ahmad took three wickets in 8.4 overs and conceded 30 runs.

Ghafari was named player of the match for his best performance.
