Strike in Chaman brings Af-Pak trade to a halt

Strike in Chaman brings Af-Pak trade to a halt

Jan 23, 2020 - 13:18

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Trade between Afghanistaninfo-icon and Pakistaninfo-icon has come to a halt as a result of strike for the last two days in the border city of Chaman, a business leader says.

The Chaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been staging a protest against the National Logistics Cell (NLC) in the border for the last two days.

Hundreds of goods-laden vehicles have been stranded on both sides of the border, according to Haji Ghous Ullah, vice-president of the chamber of commerce. He accused NLC officials of mistreating clearing agents and reviving a fee for the screening of vehicles.

He claimed: “NLC officials have forced Afghan Transit Trade clearing agents to suspend trade activity. The strike will continue until the government addresses our concerns.”
