Kam Air to shift 2,000 VDD children to India free of cost

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Kam Air airline would shift 2,000 children suffering from ventricular septal defects (VDD) to India for treatment annually free of cost under an agreement signed on Sunday.

The agreement was signed between Mirwais Ekram, deputy director of Hilal Ahmar Afghani organization and Suliman Omar, head of Kam Air Airline.

Mirwais Ekram told a ceremony in this regard that their organization had shifted around 10,600 children with VDD to India and China for treatment within the past 10 years.

He said they dispatched 1,800 children with VDD to India and around 100 with the same issue to China last year.

He said they will shift around 2,000 children with ventricular septal defects (VDD) to India and China for medical treatment annually free of cost.

Suliman Omar said the contract was till 2023 and one child free of cost and one attendee with a 50 percent discount would be airlifted. He said their round ticket from India to Afghanistaninfo-icon is $320.

According to HilalAhmar Afghani organization officials information, currently 17,000 children with VDD are registered with them.
