KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has express concern over the arrest of Pashtuninfo-icon Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader Manzoor Pashteen and urged that governments should support peaceful civilian movements.

According to Pakistani police, a case was registered against the PTM chief at the City Police Station in DI Khan on Jan 18 under various sections.

President Ghani took to the twitter and wrote: “I am troubled by the arrest of Manzoor Pashteen and his colleagues. I fully echo the concerns raised by Amnesty International in this regard and hope for their immediate release.”

He added: “While our region is suffering from atrocities caused by violent extremism and terrorist, governments in the region must support and encourage peaceful civilian movements for justice and must avoid any means of force and violence against these movements.”

The Afghan president urged differences with such peaceful movements must be resolved through dialogue and engagement.
