Baghlan: 11 policemen killed in Taliban attack

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): At least 11 policemen, including a commander, have been killed as a result of a Talibaninfo-icon attack in northern Baghlan province.

A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News militants stormed a check-post in the 3rd police district of Pul-i-Khumri on Monday night.

He said 11 police personnel, including commander Fareed Andarabi, were killed in the overnight assault. The attackers also torched two military tanks, the official revealed.

Public Healthinfo-icon Director Dr. Mohib told Pajhwok that seven bodies and two injured policemen had been brought to hospital from the site of the clash.

Security officials have so far said nothing about the militant attack. Also, there has been no word yet from the Taliban in this regard.
