Kabul, Balkh rallies demand immediate release of Pashteen

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Civil societyinfo-icon activists, tribal elders and womeninfo-icon activists have contradicted with the arrest of Manzoor Pashteen, head of the Pashtuninfo-icon Tahaffuz Movement (PTM), and demanded his immediate arrest.

PTM leader along with some other colleagues were taken into custody by Pakistani police on January 26.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and thousands of Afghans have contradicted with pashteen’s arrest and demanded his immediate release.

In Kabul, protesters organised a walk and raised their concerns over the arrest of Manzoor Pashteen. They demanded the immediate release of the PTM leader.

Marya Totakhel, one of the activists, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Pashteen is the leaders of humanity and peace and he should be released as soon as possible.

She stressed that Pakistaninfo-icon should act against terrorism on its soil instead of arresting Manzoor Pashteen and the neighboring country should halt persecution of Pashtoons.

Nadia Hakimi, head of the Paktia Youth Parliament, said they don’t stop by the release of Pashteen, asking Pakistan to answer for its brutal act of arresting the head of a peaceful movement.

Elsewhere, in Mazar-i-Sharif, tens of civil society activists and tribal elders have rallied in support of PTM leader and chanted against Pakistan.

They gathered in front of the Provincial Council building and chanted the slogans of “Afghans are one” “Greater Afghanistaninfo-icon

Seerat Noori, a civil society activist, said for humanitarian and legal support they have come together to support PTM.

He said Pashteen leadership no more restricted to a specific area but he emerged symbol of fight against injustice and persecution in every corner of the worldinfo-icon.

Balkh Provincial Council Member Abdul Wakeel asked the UN and Amnesty International to raise voice for the support of Manzoor Pashteen.

He also asked Pakistan to stop interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan.

A five point resolution was passed at the end of the rally in which the international community was asked to stop Pakistan from illegal steps against oppressed people.
