PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Afghan consul-general in Peshawar has supported calls for removing hurdles to bilateral and transit trade with Pakistaninfo-icon.

Najeebullah Ahmadzai,speaking to a delegation of businessmen here on Thursday, promised taking concrete steps to enhance the volume of bilateral trade.

Trade ties would be separated from politics to boost bilateral trade, the diplomat told a team of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

The SCCIteam urged Kabulinfo-icon and Islamabad to take practical measures for facilitating the business community on both sides of Durand Lineinfo-icon.

SCCI senior vice-president Shahid Hussain,a representative of the Afghan business community Abdullah and other trade leaders attended the meeting.

Hussain regretted the bilateral trade volume was pretty lowdue to the prevailing uncertain situation. He asked both countries to ensure the timely issuance of business visas.

He also called for a review of the 2010 Pak-Afghan Transit Trade Agreement to remove concerns of the business community on both sides.
