12 criminals, militants detained in Ghazni, Laghman

GHAZNI CITY/MEHTHARLAM (Pajhwok): Security forces have detained 12 people in connection with various crimes in southern Ghazni and eastern Laghman provinces.

Mohammad Ari fNoori, the Ghazni governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that security forces detained nine individuals in connection with planting landmines, murders, robberies and harassment.

He said three Talibaninfo-icon insurgents were among the detainees who planned to plant landmines in the city.

He added landmines and silencer-fitted pistols were recovered from three militants and they had confessed to their crimes.

Meanwhile, Rahimullah, a resident of Ghazni City, said robbers and people’s harassment had increased recently.

On the other hand, NasratRahimi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, said the level of robberies and other crimes had decreased in capital Kabulinfo-icon following the active efforts by police.

In Laghman, intelligence operatives detained a three-member group of militants in Mehtharlam City during a special operation, said a statement from the National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon).

The statement identified the three militants as Mohammad Reyaz, Norani and Zargai. The source added that the detainees wanted to carry out subversive activities in the province.
