Taliban set fire to girls’ school in Takhar: Rahimi

TALUQAN (Pajhwok): The Talibaninfo-icon torched a girls' school in Taloqan, the capital city of northern Takhar province, an official said on Monday.

Nasrat Rahimi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban burned the Bodala Girls School in Taloqan this morning.

“School equipment, books and even some pieces of the holy Quraninfo-icon burned in the fire incident,” he said.

Police Spokesperson Col. Khalil Aseer said the Taliban set a light to the Bodala Girls School at around 11:00am.

He said no arrest has been made so far in connection to the school fire incident while police had launched search.

The Taliban have not yet commented about the incident.
