KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The US, having exhausted all its military options in Afghanistaninfo-icon, is left with little choice but to continue peace talks with the Talibaninfo-icon, says a senior Pakistani diplomat.

The Pakistaninfo-icon ambassador to the US told The Washington Times the two sides had reached a crucial moment to clinch a cease-fire agreement.

Asad M. Khan asked: “What is the alternative? There is no military solution. You have tried it with a much larger military presence there, and that did not result in peace.”

The ambassador called for the US and Iran to defuse tensions to prevent the destabilisation of an already fragile region.
