Time to hold intra-Afghan talks at home: Baghlanis

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Some civil societyinfo-icon activists, religious scholars and residents of northern Baghlan province on Monday called for intra-Afghan peace dialogue inside the country.

Mualvi Mohammad Yasin Mihyar, a religious scholar, told a gathering in Pul-i-Khumri City, the provincial capital, that they would support each small effort that could help end the ongoing conflict in the country.

He said, “The ongoing peace efforts both aboard and inside the country show that the real time has arrived for peace in the country, we urge the warning parties not miss this golden chance.”

He called on the government and the Talibaninfo-icon to enter peace talks without any conditions and take practical measures in this regard.

Sardar Wali, another speaker, said gatherings in provinces could not advance the peace process until the warning parties take real steps for winning peace in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

He said, “Peace is impossible in absence of religious scholars, the government should involve scholars in its peace delegation.”

A number of other scholars and residents held similar views and urged the warning parties to take measures for ensuring long-lasting peace in the country.
