KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Healthinfo-icon (MoPH) on Saturday directed public health officials of provinces bordering Iran to provide more equipment to healthcare centers for prevention of coronavirus outbreak.

The ministry on its Facebook page said that public health minister, Firuzuddin Firoz talked with public health directors of Herat, Farah, Nimroz and Kandahar provinces and discussed the measures taken for prevention of coronavirus in borders with Iran.

MoPH said that the officials assured the ministry about their measures in airports, borders and dry ports for prevention of coronavirus entry to the country. Special patient beds and public awareness programs for prevention of the virus also provided, the source added.

Providing more equipment to healthcare centers, particularly standard health kits, anti infectious materials and other preliminary needs to healthcare centers and directed organs concerned to pay special attention on the regard, the source added.

The ministry took the recent measures after reports of 18 new coronavirus cases in neighbor Iran and five deaths from the virus in this country.

According to recent figures, the number of people infected with the virus jumped to 76,000 in China, of which 2,345 lost their lives.
