Qureshi sees conspiracies to derail Afghan peace drive

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistaninfo-icon’s foreign minister alleges efforts are being made by certain forces to derail the peace process in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

“Some powers don’t want peace in Afghanistan and are conspiring against the process…  Such powers are spoilers and there is need to foil their nefarious designs,” he said.

Without naming such powers, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told reporters I Multan on Sunday work on intra-afghan talks was ongoing.

Pakistan was hopeful of a peace deal between the United States (US) and Afghan Talibaninfo-icon bring signed on February 29 in Doha, the minister added.

Qureshi said his country had been trying to convince the worldinfo-icon that there was no military settlement to the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan.

“When there will be peace in Afghanistan, then the rebuilding process will be initiated. Pakistan will also take part in Afghanistan’s reconstructioninfo-icon,” he said.
